Full description

Iceland is a highly active volcanic island. We have had a serious volcanic eruption nearly every 2 years on average over the last 40 years.

During an eruption you can find lava flows spreading across the landscape, altering it permanently. What can happen during such an event is that the outer shell of certain lava flows can cool and harden much quicker than the internal flow. Once the eruption ceases, the still flowing lava is able to then drain out through the hardened shell leaving behind an empty tunnel and cave system that allows adventurers like us to traverse the depths of it.

We are going to explore one of these lava cave systems: Raufarhólshellir

After delving into the depths of this island we will then drive to Bláa Hafið or the Blue Sea restaurant close to Eyrarbakki to have some lunch (included in the price).

The final stop on this tour is the ghost, elves and northern lights museum called the Icelandic Wonders.
